San Jacinto Ridge Truck Trail - 5S09 Access: Take Hwy 243, a few miles north of Idyllwild to Pine Cove. Turn west at the Pine Cove gas station and store. Head west. Road will turn sharply north and DOWN, and pavement will end. Keep going, then turn west at the bottom of the hill to the intersection of 5S10 and 5S09, aka The San Jacinto Ridge Truck Trail. Total Distance: 14.44 miles Elevation Gain/loss: 4009 feet Starts at: 33.76224°N, 116.74444°W, 6003 feet Ends at: 33.73692°N, 116.82475°W, 1994 feet Comments: This trail starts in the pine, cedar and fir forest near the community of Pine Cove, winds down over 2 creek crossings, past 2 springs, a boulder field and chapparel to finally end in the valley grasslands at Hwy 74 just east of the city of Hemet. This road is OK for any truck or SUV with fair ground clearance, 4-wheel drive is usually not required except in winter or wet weather. Trail may be closed during fire season.
