Starts at: 34°17'14"N, 117°21'40"W

Ends at: 34°12'31"N, 117°21'02"W

Elevation Gain: Starts at 3458 ft, climbs to 5567 ft and drops back to 2124 ft at the end of the 11.7 mile trail.

Comments: From the Los Angeles area, take your best route to Interstate 15, north into the Cajon Pass. At 34°18'42",117°28'28", exit the freeway onto the 138 headed east. Follow 138 to Lake Silverwood, exit west on Cleghorn Road. You'll pass the Lake Silverwood Rangers office on your left, and find a road at 34°17'14"N, 117°21'40"W headed due south. This road is 2N59, and your starting point for this trail. Head on down the road. You will cross a few washes and forks leading to campsites. Bear right at the fork at 34°16'25"N, 117°21'21"W, and continue south. 4.2 miles from your starting point, turn left onto 2N49. Another 2 miles will bring you to 34°14'45"N, 117°21'12"W, Monument Peak. Another half-mile south is a short spur on the right leading to a overlook of the valley below. This is a good place to have lunch before backing up and continuing south. At 34°13'11"N, 117°20'24"W, you come to another fork. Turn south and proceed down Bailey Canyon. The trail ends, and turns to pavement, at the top of Palm Avenue. Straight down Palm will get you onto the 215 frwy near Glen Helen.
